FedEx FIMS Tracking

FIMS (FedEx International Mail Service) – A simple, economical solution for mailing items to international destinations. FedEx carries your consolidated mail shipment to a FedEx sort facility, and then the local postal authorities in the destination countries deliver the individual packages to final recipients.

FedEx International Mail Service provides an additional level of visibility to your economical international shipping, however this is not a tracking process. As FedEx hands your package off to a local postal authority, there can be a lag time of 2—5 days where your package is not visible. Not every country scans their packages or performs a full set of scans. FedEx is not responsible for packages once they have been handed off to the local postal authority.

When a package is shipped by FIMS, FedEx is responsible for shipping the package to your country and to your city. Once the package arrives in your city it is then handed off to your local post office where they handle the final steps of delivery. Essentially, FedEx is delivering the package to your post office and your post office will be the one to deliver the package. The entire process generally takes 10-28 days. Please note that International shipping does not guarantee tracking for every step of delivery, only delivery confirmation.

FedEx FIMS Tracking

Enter FedEx International Mail Service (FIMS) air waybill number or postal ID number to gain visibility into your economical international shipping.

Find both air waybill and package level information as your shipments reach their destination.

FIMS provides complete FedEx control and tracking from pickup to mail center. Once the shipment has left the mail center, FedEx International MailService provides more visibility into the mail stream than ever before.

What if I don’t see my package?

Shipments must be received and processed by the FedEx mail center before postal information will be available for your shipments. Up to 5 days may be required before shipments will be visible after they have been received by FedEx.

A shipment may show received, but not processed at the FedEx mail center. Up to 2 additional days may be required for the shipment to be processed and show as processed with associated postal information.

Shipments received by FedEx may be tracked from pickup to receipt at the mail center by entering the FedEx International Service Air Waybill number in the tracking page at fedex.com.

What if my package is showing submitted to customs for an extended period?

The most common cause of customs delay is commodity declarations. Commodity declarations can be misunderstood because they do not translate well into the language used at the destination postal administration. Additionally, the commodity declaration may not be simple, requiring extended review by postal inspectors.

One other common source of customs delay is a customs value declaration that does not seem reasonable for the commodity description.

You are advised to have the FIMS Team review your commodity declarations for appropriateness and postal efficiency. FedEx can make recommendations that may improve the efficiency of postal clearance for your shipments. Your FedEx sales executive can facilitate this review.
