The company was founded on July 8, 1716, and was appointed by the Chief Superintendent and General Administrator of the Posts Offices by Philip V, Juan Tomas de Goyeneche t serve the Spanish country. From that time on, Correos de España provided a significant contribution to the advancement of the postal service in Spain. It has undergone many changes such as the rationalization charges after P.O. boxes and newspaper services were established.
In the year 2016, the company celebrated its 300th existence in the industry, marking itself as one of the longest-running postal services in the world. Currently, it provides a lot of services to reach its goal of a progressive future.
While the company is getting advanced, it almost has 50,000 troops helping one another to deliver a complete service. It obtains 18 centers to process the shipments through automated systems. It comprises of 2,395 multiservice offices while 6,392 are dedicated to rural services. It has over 50,000 employees who work daily to accommodates an average of 2,774 million shipments to serve the households.
The company offers urgent shipments, parcel delivery, door-to-door services, and local and international shipments. It also has a strict implementation of security in the packages they handle. The customers receive a locator mail to allow them to track the delivery. They can also send a follow-up email to ensure that the item arrives at the right location.
With the advancement of the technology, Correos de España uses an online system to provide other major services such as mobile app and convenient mode of payments. In line with this, it also offers financial services for instant sending and receiving of money. In 2003, it opened its Virtual Post Office to make its service more accessible to the people.
